Sergio Ferrero was born on the 30th of July 1942 in Bucharest, Rumania. His father was Italian, his mother Rumanian. At the age of few months, he moved with his family to Rome, where he studied political sciences later on.

Although being artistically involved all his life long, he only exposed his paintings for the 1st time in 1973, in the Roman "Centro Internationale Naif". The exhibition becomes a big success; nearly all paintings got sold at an already quite elevated price. The reason for this is simple: Ferrero is already famous; he belongs to the international Jet-Set and the rainbow press writes continuously about him and his flirts with the world's most beautiful women. Art critics, too, start writing about him, and "Il Messaggero", "Momento Sera", "Il Spettatore", "Il Poliedro" and "Scena Illustrata" publish articles about his art.  "Bolaffi Arte", an important art catalogue, publishes his paintings various times with high quotations.

He wins various important prizes: The "Vittoria Alata", the Campidolio-Prize, the Paride, the "Premio della Gioventù" and many others. After that he decides to mot accept prizes any longer and he depreciates these activities.

His art becomes more and more professional, and he gives exhibitions in all Europe (Rome, Paris, Milano, Sorrento, Porto S. Stefano, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Bologna, Como, etc.). Art critics praise him all the way, and he gets letters from the president of the Italian Republic, from Kissinger, Nixon and the Shah of Persia, who congratulate and thank him for his art.

Meanwhile, he dedicates himself also to the sport: He wins the Italian Senior Cup in Windsurfing, and he participates 4 times to the Windsurf World Championships.

He founds the Centro Culturale Europeo in Rome and organizes exhibitions for young talents. He presents them to important art critics and introduces them into the international art scene. Furthermore, he writes articles and critics for art magazines. He starts looking for new talents in all Europe and invites them to Rome.

Finally he goes to Paris, where he has two important exhibitions: one in the "Centre d'Art Français", the other one in the "Galerie du Roule", which lead both to big success. His contacts to the well-known artist Mimmo Rotella and to the French avant-garde transform him. So, in 1978, he organizes at Place Trocadero in front of ten thousand people a happening to celebrate the foundation of the new cultural movement "Generation Future". It is approved by the Baronet Barclay (the councilor of the President of France) and has its roots within the cultural and expressionistic needs of Ferrero and his friend Claude Challe (Buddah Bar). After an enthusiastic speech, Ferrero creates in front of the public the first painting in a completely new style: he sprays words with golden and silver color on black canvas. Later on, he creates also collages containing both poetry from the Latin Catull and parts of his diaries.

After, he goes to New York, where his friendship to Andy Warhol introduces him to the American cultural scene. He takes America's biggest problem very serious: the drugs. To make people getting used to "forbidden" words like heroine and cocaine, he creates a serial of paintings containing these words, which are exposed in New York's Manhattan Gallery.

In 1982 he crosses the Atlantic Ocean by Windsurf in 24 days (Guinnes Book of Records).

In the 80s, besides becoming a professional triathlete and quadriathlete, Sergio Ferrero does various exhibitions in all Europe.

In the early 90s, Ferrero wins the World Championship of Ultradistance-Triathlon (15times the Ironman-Distance NON-STOP in 23 days).

From the late 90s until today, Ferrero creates a new kind of art which he calls the “Strappi d’Autore”, a mixture between collage and decollage. He does various exhibitions of his paintings in Europe. In 2003 his cultural center Centro Culturale Europeo goes online, offering artists in all over the world to expose their work in the Internet.

At the age of 60 he starts with the extremely dangerous kite-surfing and manages to become a professional kiter in very short time, attracting like this important sponsors like RED BULL, Wipika, Bump & Jump, Traxbay, etc. Kiting becomes his new form of inspiration and meditation.

In October 2004, he crosss the desert of Sahara by Skate-Kite (www.transahara2004.com)

Nowadays Ferrero is planning the Crossing of the  Atlantic Ocean by Kitesurf. Although being over 60 now, he is still not tired of the mixture “adventure and culture hand in hand”, and he is still hungry for new experiences and challenges.
