Sergio Ferrero

It was in 1974 when his friend Frank Sinatra organized for Sergio Ferrero an exhibition of his paintings and presented him to the extravagant American artist ANDY WARHOL, the icon of the Pop Art, pushed by the American galleries in order to create a totally American kind of art. Furthermore Frank Sinatra presented to Ferrero Nixon, Kissinger, Elisabeth Taylor and the Shah of Iran, who appear now in some of Ferrero's paintings and who testified their enthusiasm in some of their letters which are published in the book "Sergio Ferrero: 10 years of art". His friendship with Andy Warhol pushed Ferrero to organize in New York a happening together with Warhol in order to face the big drug problem in America. The biggest publicity for drugs is the word "forbidden". The church did the same thing with free sex: making it a sin. A famous psychiatrist wrote that the 70% of those who use drugs do it because it's forbidden. Ferrero decided to normalize the words COCAINE and HEROINE writing them in big letters on canvas, transforming them like this in common words. If you want to take drugs because you like them you have a big problem, but don't take them because they are forbidden. Some years later Frank Sinatra wrote to prologue of Ferrero's second book, "Le carezze della vita", which won the prize "Premio Bancarella" in Italy. In 1994 Ferrero dedicated to his friend Frank Sinatra in Guiness Book record of the Quadruple Quadriathlon: 20km swimming + 80km kayaking + 40km biking + 80km running. Today Ferrero dedicates to Andy Warhol his new paintings, the serial "Thank you Andy". The new exhibition will take place in the art gallery Es Moli in Ibiza, Carretera San Miguel km 1,300, the 17th of August 2007.

Si quieres tomarlas porque te gustan ya es un gran problema, pero si quieres tomarlas porque están prohibidas es absurdo.Algunos años después FRANK SINATRA escribió el prologo del segundo libro de SERGIO FERRERO ''LE CAREZZE DELLA VITA'' que gano el prestigioso PREMIO BANCARELLA en Italia. A painting from the Italian artist Sergio Ferrero, who's living in Ibiza, handmade together with the king of Pop Art, Andy Warhol, will be sold this spring at Sotheby's in London. The titel of the painting, "War", was made in 1979 in Warhol's Factory in New York. The price will start at 99.000€.
That's a good price for a painting protagonized by Marilyn Monroe. It reflects both Warhol's and Ferrero's spirit and genious.
There's no space left for any doubt in the Italian painter's and athlete's friendship with Warhol. And those who always believed in their friendship are happy that their work made it into one of the most important aution sales of the world.

"The meaning of my paintings is on the front, there's nothing hidden behind." said Warhol, but Ferrero showed that there was quality behind - a lot of. A few months ago he presented his new paintings: collages and decollages in honour of Andy Warhol who was one of the mayor protagonists of the american and the european society.
The two artists became friend soon after their first meeting and Ferrero was invited to "The Factory", the universe of Warhol big enough to fit inside the whole world.

Sotheby's will sell a painting from S. Ferrero and Andy Warhol

The prestigious auction house Sotheby's in London will sell this spring a painting made by both Ferrero and Andy Warhol. "We were friends and worked together in Warhol's 'Factory' in New York. At that time we did some paintings like the one that will be sold now." says Sergio Ferrero and assuresthat the painting will be sold at a price starting at 99.000€.
Ferrero is known in Ibiza for being an extreme sports athlete and now he's looking for a new sponsor for his new adventure: crossing the Atlantic by Kitesurf from canary Islands to Caraibe. It'll be the same crossing as he already did in 1982 by Windsurf in 24 days (Guiness Book of Records).
Ferrero got recently in Italy the Award "Piazza del Popolo" from the Academy La Sponda, as a recognition for his artistic carreer.
